The Bond Trading Division was launched in November 2002 and its gross turnover exceeded Rs. 1600 crores in the very first full year of its operations. The same is now likely to cross Rs. 3000 crores during the year 2005-2006.

Our Focus and Reach

In its three years since inception, the group has developed the capacity to take open leveraged positions of over Rs. 100 crores on certain occasions. The Division caters to more than 1500 institutional clients through its Dealers located at vantage points in the country. The client list includes most Pension and Provident Funds including those of most PSUs and large Corporates. We also deal with Banks, Insurance Companies, Mutual funds and Primary dealers on a principal-to-principal basis.

Although the leveraged capacity to take long open positions in bonds is quite limited in relation to the total market size, yet we have been successful in market making in number of securities in the past few years and are recognized by the market as such.

With continuing changes in tastes and trends, we, too, have altered our portfolio focus from time to time and, now, deal in the widest possible gamut of securities including Central Government Securities, State Development Loans, Corporate and PSU bonds, Taxable and Tax-free bonds, Fixed and Floating Rate Bonds etc.
